After registering various trademarks seemingly related to a bendable device and adding Flex, Duplex, Foldi, and Bendi to its inventory, LG now applied for and was granted a patent for a full-screen bendable smartphone with a very slim bezel around the edges.
The patent filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) was published on October 23, 2018, with multiple sketches to represent the device described within.
Moreover, LG's foldable smartphone patent describes a rimless smartphone with a highly flexible large display screen that covers all the side and probably attached to the case using a magnetic method.
Once the device is unfolded, it can be used as a tablet, but it's important to mention that the case of the smartphone will only cover one side of the display as you can see in the sketches attached to this article.
LG's foldable smartphone might be able to take 3D photos
According to another patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), LG's foldable device will also come with a series of sensors placed under the screen, with a fingerprint sensor being presented within some of the sketches included in the patent.
Furthermore, LG’s foldable phone might also come equipped with multiple cameras set up in either a stereoscopic or a matrix configuration depending on the type of usage the manufacturer wants them to have.
While in stereoscopic configuration, the multiple cameras could be used to take stereoscopic snapshots also known as 3D images.
As multiple rumors circulating the web say, LG's foldable smartphone will be presented during CES 2019 with Huawei also rumored to make an appearance exhibiting its own bendable smartphone which might receive the Mate Flex, Mate Fold, Mate Flexi, or Mate F monicker.
