A few days ago, we reported that LG was expecting to see lower smartphone shipments due to unsatisfactory sales of the LG G5. Considering this, it seems that the company has started working on another handset that will be released later this year. LG V20 is reportedly expected to be unveiled in early September.

LG is reportedly working on a new smartphone, the V20, which will debut in early September. The information comes from ETNews and shows that the name of the upcoming device isn't set yet, but it will most likely be V20, as opposed to V11.

The post also shows that LG wants to set the launch date in early September and capitalize on the sale of the smartphone so that it can cover the losses caused by the LG G5.

A launch in September does mean that LG will directly compete against powerful flagships like Apple's iPhone 7 and Samsung's Galaxy Note 7, so it will be interesting to see how LG's smartphone will perform on the market.

LG released the V10 last year in October

The V20 will be the successor to the LG V10, which was launched last year in October. What's interesting is that LG would thus unveil its successor about one month earlier than its predicted release.

The V10 came with a secondary display on top of the main screen to show all sorts of information, including the time, weather, date, the battery icon, and notifications. The feature did improve user experience, as it allowed users to run shortcuts or open apps from the secondary screen while the main display was on.

The V10 came with a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, and the second display had a 160 x 1040 resolution and measured 2.1 inches. It packed a Snapdragon 808, coupled with Adreno 418 GPU, and had 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also had a 16MP rear camera.

The V20 should come with more powerful specs, considering its competition, and more information is bound to surface soon.
