A rather steep price for what the smartphone has to offer

The K series of smartphone announced by LG last month at CES 2016 has an ambassador in the United States, the K7. The budget-friendly smartphone has just been listed by T-Mobile USA on its website where it can be had for $0 down on $5.84 for 24 months.

However, customers can also purchase the LG K7 for $140 outright if they want to avoid paying monthly fees for the next two years.

Although it's a budget-friendly smartphone, the K7 is a bit undergeared for the price T-Mobile is asking, but it's up to you to decide whether this handset is worth that amount.

First the good news: LG K7 comes with 4G LTE support and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. Even though we're in 2016, the bulk of new smartphones launched are powered by Lollipop and LG K7 is no exception.

Unfortunately, the K7 sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports a disappointing 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

Modest chipset, but decent battery

There aren't any surprises under the hood since LG announced the K7 would be equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, and the listing at T-Mobile confirms just that.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, LG K7 features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, whereas at the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

According to T-Mobile, LG K7 is powered by a 2,125 mAh battery that should provide up to 11 hours of talk time or up to 13 days standby time.

Beside 4G LTE support, LG's entry-level smartphone includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0, and GPS with AGPS. Also, the smartphone is fully compatible with Android Pay.
