Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 later this year, and information on the upcoming device continues to surface at a rapid pace. The latest regards the camera module on the iPhone 7 Plus, which is said to come exclusively from LG Innotek, according to sources quoted by Business Korea.

The website reports that “LG Innotek will exclusively supply dual camera module to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, which will come out in September this year.”

LG is expected to begin shipment of the dual camera module this month, but as it turns out, the exclusive deal only regards the iPhone 7, as other vendors will be contracted next year. Sony was rumored to be one of the suppliers for the camera module, but the company reconsidered its position when it announced it was getting out of the high-end camera module business in May. It seems that the Japanese decided to manufacture camera modules only for their own smartphones.

Current rumors say that only the flagship iPhone 7 Plus model will come with dual cameras while the iPhone 7 will have a single-camera module but will receive optical image stabilization, a feature that was previously found only on Plus models.

The iPhone 7 Plus could come with two 12MP rear cameras

The iPhone 7 Plus is expected to pack a 5.5-inch screen and two 12MP cameras on the back. The flagship should come with 3GB of RAM and three variants, with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB of internal storage. They’re just rumors for the time being, so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

Consequently, the iPhone 7 should have a 4.7-inch screen and arrive with three variants as well: 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB of internal storage. Some hearsay also suggests that the iPhone 7 could have a 21MP rear camera.

All these details are simply rumors at this point, and they are quite difficult to verify, but they’ll surely be put to rest in September, when the iPhone 7 will be unveiled.
