Google should unveil the new devices on September 29

Google has been rumored to be working on two Nexus smartphones for some time now, and we expected them to show up at the company’s I/O 2015 conference this summer. Interestingly enough, Google skipped the Nexus topic with grace and focused on other things (like Android M) during its keynote.

Well, a few days ago we told you that the search giant scheduled a press event on September 29, during which the Huawei Nexus and new LG Nexus would finally make a grand debut. While we previously thought that at least the LG Nexus 5 (2015) would be made available from the Google Play Store on that day, a new report claims that we’ll have to wait a few more days before we are able to place a pre-order.

A source speaking to Talk Android has revealed that Google will take pre-orders for the two phones starting October 13. However, we’re not given an estimate of when the search giant will actually start shipping out the phones to consumers.

If we’re to look to the past for answer, Google takes about 1 to 3 weeks after the pre-order period has started to start sending out the new products to those who have acquired them. Naturally, things might as well change this year, given that Google is taking a different approach to things.

What should we expect from the Nexus camp?

According to the information we have seen make its way online, the Huawei Nexus is expected to be the largest of the two phones, coming with a 5.7-inch display and support for Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels).

The flagship should be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and will come equipped with a USB Type-C on board, given that Android M is designed to handle this standard

There will be 64GB of internal storage on board, but we are yet to find out whether Google will be offering a microSD card slot along for the ride or not.

As for the LG-made Nexus 5 (or Nexus 5X, as a recent report indicates), the phone should make an appearance with a 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution (1080p), although some rumors have hinted that a QHD display might be spotted on board. As for the processing power, the Snapdragon 808 will reportedly be keeping the 5X company alongside 3GB of RAM.

The two Nexus devices should come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
