LG will soon unveil two more smartphone models

LG has unveiled the LG G4 flagship this year, which compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6, hasn’t really seen a lot of success. Which is pretty odd given the fact that the handset does offer a microSD card slot and a removable battery, things missing from this year’s Samsung flagships.

However, LG is trying. The company has two press events coming up, during which it will unveil a mid-range phablet and a higher-end type of phone. Anyway, while we wait for the company’s new models to make an entry to the market, we bring you an interesting new report coming out of Business Korea.

According to the information which was provided to the publication by South Korea’s main carrier SK Telecom, the average cost of 17 smartphones manufactured by LG was of around $150 / €132 for customers opting for SK Telecom’s $51 / €45 level subscription plans.

To compare, Samsung smartphones in the country were sold for $355 / €313 on average, while Apple’s iPhone was offered with a huge $735 / €648 price tag.

Is LG embarking on a road to no return?

Indeed, LG hasn’t had a great second quarter this year, with mobile revenue stagnating. What’s more, operating profit was reported to be down a whopping 99.7% and smartphone shipments decreased by 3%.

Still, the company has some prospects of improving its outlook these upcoming few months. For starters, LG has been chosen by Google to manufacture this year’s Nexus 5, which the rumor mill is calling the Nexus 5X. Furthermore, as we told you above, the handset maker is prepping not one but two handsets.

One of them leaked yesterday and is a mid-range phablet dubbed Class. According to the leaked information, the device features a 5.7-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and is fueled by a Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood, in combination with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (no word on microSD card slot availability, but fingers crossed for finding one on board).

The second device coming soon is probably the LG V10, which is a high-end handset poised to arrive with a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution and a Snapdragon 808 processor under the hood, just like the G4.

Are you excited about any of these products?
