Leonardo DiCaprio is back to his handsome self, after months of rocking a bushy beard and very long, shaggy hair, which turned him into the butt of many jokes in the blogosphere. The star stepped out in New York the other day to attend an event focused on global warming, and fans couldn’t help notice his change in style.

DiCaprio has joined the Divest-Invest Coalition and is pledging to shed his own and his foundation’s investments in fossil fuels, to fight global warming.

Not only is he further using his name and his money to help the planet but he’s also back to his handsome, elegant self, as the photo above can confirm. The Daily Mail has more.

A cleaner, dapper appearance

Celebrity pundits and even fans lost count of how many months DiCaprio spent with the long hair and bushy beard combo, but they all agreed that it was a look that did him few favors, especially considering that he had also gained some weight.

DiCaprio might not be in the habit of sharing his personal life with the media, but that does little to take away from his status as one of Hollywood’s most handsome, dapper men. Naturally, seeing him looking un-dapper did not sit well with the fans and the bloggers.

As it happens, the change in style was for a role, in Alejandro G. Innaritu’s highly anticipated “The Revenant,” which is shot in sequence and using only natural light and sees DiCaprio play a guy stranded in the Dakota Territory.

The film went over budget because shooting had to extend for longer than planned, so naturally, DiCaprio wasn’t allowed to trim the beard or cut the hair short.

The other day, he stepped out looking like his old self, sporting a clean cut and his trademark goatee. As we speak, the Internet is thrilled to have Leo back in all his elegant glory.

High Oscar hopes for Leo

“The Revenant” has the same fans hoping Leo will finally get the Oscar the Academy has been refusing to give him for years.

The film, whose trailer you can find in full below, also stars British actor Tom Hardy, but it’s clearly DiCaprio’s vehicle.

It is said that he barely has any dialog in it, which is also hinted at in the preview. If that turns out to be the case, DiCaprio is left with the difficult task of conveying his emotions with his eyes, the only part of his face not obscured in any way.

It will open in select theaters in December and wide in January.
