During an event held in New Delhi today, Lenovo has finally unveiled the two smartphones in the next-gen Moto G series, namely the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The main improvements over the Moto G (3rd generation) regard display size, processing power, camera, and memory capacity.

The Moto G4 comes with a 5.5-inch screen and 1080p resolution, Snapdragon 617 chipset, and a 3,000mAh battery with fast charge support. It’s available in two variants, either the 16GB or 32GB internal storage, expandable with a microSD card.

RAM is set at 2GB, and camera capacity resembles that on the third-generation series, 13MP in the rear with 1080p video capture, and there's also a 5MP wide-angle selfie cam.

The Moto G4 Plus is the premium model in this series, as it also includes a fingerprint sensor and camera improvements over the Moto G4. Screen size and resolution are the same for both models, but the Plus variant also comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It is said that the fingerprint sensor can unlock the phone in just 750ms.

Moto G4 Plus comes with Turbo Charger support

The rear camera on the Moto G4 Plus model has a performance of 16MP with hybrid focus, which includes laser and phase detection. The main camera uses an OmniVision PureCell Plus sensor - with 1.3µm pixels and behind an f/2.0 aperture. It also arrives with a Pro mode with manual controls. The front camera has a 5MP sensor and 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The chipset got an upgrade to Qualcomm's 6-series - a Snapdragon 617, octa-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. It seems that the manufacturer doubled the number of CPU cores and incorporated a new generation of GPU compared to the third-generation Moto G.

The premium model comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, with the option to expand using a microSD card. Both variants have 3,000mAh batteries, but only the Moto G4 Plus features Turbo Charger support, promising up to 6 hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging.

Pricing information has been released, and Moto G4 will sell for $200 (€180) while the Plus model will set you back $225 (€200). In India, the 4th generation of Moto G will be available exclusively through Amazon.in.
