14 DAY TRIAL // Lenovo has just unveiled its new Miix 320 2-in-1 device powered by Windows 10, a very affordable Microsoft Surface alternative that will hit the market in April at just $199.
Miix 320 is built to be a super-portable 2-in-1 device, so it comes with a 10.1-inch full HD screen that allows customers to use it as a fully-featured tablet with Windows 10. A detachable keyboard is available separately, and it also comes with a precision trackpad, making it feel more like a laptop, especially when trying to work in desktop mode.
“The Miix 320’s detachable form factor matches a multitasker’s need for instant flexibility. For blogging or budgeting on a fully loaded laptop, simply attach the stable docking keyboard with precision touchpad and get to work wherever you are,” Lenovo says in the typical press release language.
Technical specifications
In terms of hardware, the Miix 320 isn’t really a productivity workhorse and what you pay is exactly what you get. So in addition to the 10.1-inch display, you also get an Intel Atom X5 processor, Intel HD graphics, up to 4GB RAM and up to 128GB eMMC storage.
The display weighs only 550 grams and integrates Dolby Advanced Audio, which Lenovo guarantees will provide an awesome audio experience when watching movies or playing games. With a keyboard, the device tips the scales at 1.02 kg, and it's only 17.5mm thin.
Although no specifics were provided on the battery, the manufacturer says the Miix 320 can achieve 10 hours of battery life. Wi-Fi is obviously offered, while LTE will be available separately.
The Lenovo Miix 320 will go on sale in April in North America starting at $199.99 with Wi-Fi, without LTE, but with a keyboard included in the box. Customers in EMA will have to pay €269 for the same version, while those looking for LTE support will have to spend €399.
A different version with Active Pen support and Microsoft Office 365 for 12 months will go on sale in July 2017 in markets that Lenovo is yet to announce.
