The smartphone is expected to go official this year

Chinese handset maker Lenovo launched the Vibe P1 smartphone back in October, just one month after its official unveiling.

The device is already available for purchase in many countries, not just in China. It comes with a more than decent 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Also, Lenovo Vibe P1 sports a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating for extra protection.

However, it looks like Lenovo has decided to launch a smaller version of the Vibe P1, as the smartphone has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission.

As expected, Lenovo dropped the “Vibe” branding for this device, but we're not sure whether this is just for TENAA's certification or the smartphone will be launched on the market simply as Lenovo P1 Mini.

We do know that the P1 Mini listed at TENAA sports a much smaller 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports a similar full HD (1080p) resolution.

It features full metal body

According to TENAA, the smaller version of Vibe P1 comes equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, but there's no mention of the model. Still, there's a high chance that the P1 Mini will be powered by the same Snapdragon 615 CPU.

The rest of the phone's specs seem to be similar to those of its predecessor, so expect the P1 Mini to pack 16GB of internal memory, 2GB RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

Lenovo P1 Mini ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, just like the Vibe P1 model.

Last but not least, the smartphone packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front.
