Surface once again creating a new product category

Lenovo has recently unveiled new headphones that are specifically developed to compete against the Surface Headphones, a product that Microsoft unveiled last October specifically with the purpose of inventing a new product category.

At the MWC 2019 show in Barcelona, Lenovo took the wraps off two headphones models, boasting pretty similar looks and features, but with different names.

The Lenovo X1 ANC Headphones and the Yoga ANC Headphones come with very exquisite designs, and they bundle features like Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Furthermore, for improved quality, they come with what Lenovo calls hybrid ANC (active noise cancellation) and ENC (environmental noise cancellation) mics with voice assist and Dolby-tuned drivers, which technically reduce the background noise and improve your voice quality.

In theory, these headphones should come in super handy during video calls like those on Skype, but given that in addition to Windows 10 they also support Android and iOS, you can use them with any messaging app you want.

The headphones also come with other premium touches, like a special 90-degree design for the ear cups, as well as a quick charge thanks to a USB Type-C port. Lenovo says the battery should provide approximately 15 hours of playback time, and you can get a maximum of 20 hours when ANC is off. The charging process takes less than 2 hours.

Carrying the headphones around is a piece of cake given they tip the scales at 195 grams, and in addition, Lenovo is also selling them with a special carrying case included in the box.

Pricing of the headphones will begin at $149 in the United States for the X1 ANC Headphones, while the Yoga ANC Headphones will cost $169.99. The first doesn’t yet have an ETA, but the latter should hit the shelves at some point in July.
