Video game developer TT Games is announcing that it has been working with platform creator Sony to offer free downloadable content for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers to all those who are planning to engage with the title on the PlayStation 4 and the PS3, centered around two of the biggest movies based on the superhero universe.

Those who own one of the two platforms will be able to get access to adventures linked to the 2015-launched Ant-Man and the coming Captain America: Civil War from 2016.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will also be launched on the Xbox One, the Xbox 360, the PC, the PlayStation Vita, the Wii U and the 3DS and those platforms will be limited to the six movies that are part of the core campaign.

When the game launches, gamers who own a PlayStation 4 or a PS3 can get the Civil War-based character pack and offers access to Captain America, Iron Man using the Mark 46 armor, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Crossbones and Agent 13.

Later during the spring, gamers will also be able to get the Ant-Man character and level pack for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, which will introduce eleven characters: Ant-Man as portrayed by Scott Lang, Ant-Man in the Hank Pym incarnation, Ant-Thony, Cassie Lang, Darren Cross, Scott Lang, Hank Pym, Hope Van Dyne, Luis, The Wasp, and Yellowjacket.

The special level will allow players to experience some of the action from the movie of the same name using either of the new characters or the ones from the core game.

The new superhero title wants to add more character with a complex combo system

The developers also say that the new superheroes are integrated into the team-up system at the heart of LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, adding, "Teaming up core Avengers results in unique moves based on the pairing, so we hope you enjoy trying out all of the various combinations to see which is your favorite. For us, it’s yet another reason why LEGO Marvel’s Avengers has been such a pleasure to develop."

More than 800 unique moves are featured, involving the more than 200 characters of the core video game, which are based not only on the movies created using the Marvel universe but also on the comics themselves.

As with all other LEGO titles, players will be able to unlock a lot of content and interact with the environments in a variety of ways based on the hero or villain that they use.

Original audio will be used for the various superheroes, and there are even new lines recorded by Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, and Hayley Atwell.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is another sign of Sony's long-term strategy of making major third-party releases more interesting on the PlayStation 4 via the delivery of extra free content or the addition of early access to some DLC.

The company has managed to make its current-gen device the platform of choice for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, delivering access to new maps one month early, and to convince most of those playing Destiny to get the game on the PS4.
