Video game developer TT Games and publisher Warner Bros. are announcing that the Doctor Who character in the coming LEGO Dimensions will be voiced by Peter Capaldi, the well-known British actor who is playing him in the current run of the television series.

The two companies have also recruited Jenna Coleman, who is portraying Clara Oswald, and Michelle Gomez, who plays Missy, to lend their voices to the adventures centered around the characters in the title.

The first trailer, focusing on the Doctor Who elements of LEGO Dimensions, shows how iconic elements of the franchise will interact with other well-known universes that will be featured in the game, like Gotham City, Homer Simpson, Aperture Science, Scooby and Shaggy and some Ninjago characters.

The developers are also featuring enemies like the Daleks and the Cybermen, and it seems that gamers can fully recreate some of the most iconic scenes from the television series.

The Doctor Who starter pack for LEGO Dimensions will offer the character and basic mission, and another level pack will deliver more adventures as well as a LEGO minifigure of the 12th Doctor and LEGO models of the TARDIS and K-9.

A fun pack is also offered for those who want a Cyberman minifigure and a Dalek model.

LEGO Dimensions is designed to appeal to dedicated fans

Warner Bros. states, "The interior of the TARDIS will reflect the corresponding Doctor the player embodies or can be manually selected. There’s even a jukebox inside where players can choose among different versions of the Doctor Who theme music. The TARDIS and K-9 models can each be physically built and then rebuilt twice to do entirely different things in the digital game for massive variety."

The company is investing a lot into the development and launch of LEGO Dimensions, making sure that the various included franchises, from DC Comics to Portal, offer content that will appeal to fans.

The game will have to deal with competition from both Skylanders and its SuperChargers expansion and from the Star Wars-focused Disney Infinity 3.0.

LEGO Dimensions will be offered on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the Wii U from Nintendo, and older home consoles on September 27.
