Microsoft is projected to unveil its Surface Duo Android phone later this year, and the closer we get to the expected holiday launch date, the more information emerges on the device.

Most recently, a real-life video showing the Surface Duo being used on what appears to be public transportation provides us with more details on how everything currently works on the Android dual-screen phone, including both the pros and the cons of this model.

As you can see in the two-minute video, the Surface Duo already seems to be in an advanced development stage, and the simple fact that it’s being used outside of testing labs is a sign that Microsoft’s work on the device is advancing as expected.

Launching in holiday 2020

At first glance, the operating system and apps running on this Surface Duo seem to be properly optimized for the dual-screen form factor, and switching from one mode to another is a snappy process.

But on the other hand, it looks like the Surface Duo is struggling a little bit with touch input in landscape mode – that appears to be a game experiencing some sort of touch lag, with the user eventually going back to the home screen with a swipe up gesture from the bottom of the screen – this is something that makes sense actually, as other Android phones come with similar gestures.

Certainly, the experience with Microsoft’s Surface Duo will be further refine as we get closer to the launch date, so the glitches that are showcased in this video are likely to be resolved by the time this happens.

Microsoft hasn’t shared any details on the price of the Surface Duo, but given its form factor and the Microsoft brand on it, you really shouldn’t expect it to come cheap.
