Samsung is rumored to be working on a new Galaxy A5 model and the smartphone could be announced as soon as December this year. The Galaxy A5 (2017) could be unveiled together with the Galaxy A3 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017).

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has already received Wi-Fi certification and was recently spotted on a benchmarking site. This means that some of its specs were revealed and that it certainly won’t be long until the phone is announced.

Android Authority and @OnLeaks have just released a set of renders and a video portraying the upcoming Galaxy A5 (2017), and some design changes do stand out. The smartphone appears to have rounded edges, resembling those of the Galaxy S7.

In addition, the device is said to be made out of metal and glass. It may appear that the mid-range device could actually borrow many design elements from this year’s flagship, the Galaxy S7.

Last year’s Galaxy A5 (2016) came with design elements from the Galaxy Note 4, namely flared corners. The phone’s back panel also resembled the Galaxy S6, but it seems that this year’s model will actually look like the Galaxy S7.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) might be a bit thicker compared to its predecessor

The Galaxy A5 (2017) will carry model number SM-A520F and will have a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. It could be powered by an Exynos 7880 processor, with four 1.87 GHz Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz.

Moreover, the smartphone might feature 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Rear camera capacity could reach 3,000mAh and the phone could run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The Galaxy A5 (2017) could measure 145 x 71 x 7.8 mm, a bit thicker compared to last year’s model.

The renders also show that the phone will come with a side-mounted speaker and USB Type-C ports.
