While the next big thing on Samsung’s agenda is the unveiling of the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9, the company is also giving the finishing touches to its upcoming flagship tablet Galaxy Tab S4.

Also projected to launch in August, the Galaxy Tab S4 leaked in what appears to be an official press render, providing us with a closer look at what to expect from the upcoming model.

Without a doubt, the most striking difference from its predecessor is the reworked front fascia, which now features slimmer bezels and no home button. This means that Samsung brings the edge-to-edge design approach that it used on phones to tablets as well, and the Galaxy Tab S4 would be the first model to boast it.

By the looks of things, the home button would go away completely, which leaves us with another dilemma: does the device still feature a fingerprint sensor?

August 24 unveiling?

The first thing that comes to mind is a fingerprint sensor embedded into the glass, but I really doubt Samsung would go for such a dramatic change on a tablet and not on its flagship phones. On the other hand, a fingerprint sensor placed on the back makes more sense, though there’s also a chance the company gives up on this tech entirely.

The top bezel, however, is the home of a 7-megapixel camera, which is placed alongside sensors that could enable more advanced facial recognition possibly replacing the said fingerprint sensor.

In addition to the 10.5-inch display with WQXGA resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and 16:10 aspect ratio, the spec sheet is also likely to include a Snapdragon 835 processor paired with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Power would come from a 7,300 mAh battery.

As the photo suggests, the press unveiling may be planned for August 24, just ahead of the IFA conference where such a launch is obviously expected.
