iPhone XI could thus come with a triple-camera system

iPhone XI, or iPhone 11 as some people call it, is projected to launch in September this year with a major camera upgrade, as Apple is likely to make the switch to a triple-camera system just like rivals Samsung and Huawei.

A leak that was published in January by serial leakster @OnLeaks indicated that the triple-camera configuration would be placed in a square-shaped layout in the top left corner of the iPhone.

And new schematics that the same leakster published this week corroborate these rumors, confirming that Apple is at least considering going for this approach on the iPhone XI.

By the looks of things, the square camera bulge will be used for the three cameras and the flash positioned in the top right corner of this formation.

Design similar to current models

Specifics aren’t available for now, but it’s believed the iPhone XI could also come with a wide-angle lens, plus a Time-of-Flight sensor that would help enhance the bokeh effect that Apple praised at the launch of the iPhone XS and deliver AR capabilities. Apple could also enhance the telephoto lens with increased optical zoom.

Leaving the square camera bulge on the back, the design of the new iPhones is expected to be very similar to the one of the current models.

Apple, however, could make the notch overall slightly smaller, with bezels possibly reduced to a small degree that may not necessarily be noticeable at first glance.

Three iPhone models are expected this year as well, all of them successors to the current generation. This means the lineup will include a new 5.8-inch iPhone and a Max sibling, as well as an upgraded iPhone XR model with an LCD screen. The 2019 iPhone lineup, however, is believed to be the last series that comes with an LCD panel, as beginning with 2020, Apple would switch entirely to OLED smartphones.
