Asus has been keeping itself busy, as it turns out the Taiwanese company is currently working on an upcoming tablet in the Zenpad series. An image of the Asus Zenpad Z8 leaked, thanks to Evan Blass from @evleaks.

Evan Blass disclosed some specs on the upcoming tablet, as well as an image of the front side of Zenpad Z8. It seems that the tablet might come with a Snapdragon 650 processor and an 8-inch screen with 1536x2048 pixel resolution.

Zenpad Z8 could also come with 2GB of RAM and a 16GB expandable memory using a microSD card. The rear camera could reach 16GB, while the tablet might also have a 1.8MP in the front.

Evan Blass also mentioned that the Zenpad Z8 might be sold through Verizon, but there’s no information on the price or the date when it should be available. Still, considering its rumored specs, the Zenpad Z8 should fall in the mid-range tablets category.

The leaked image also offers an idea on how the tablet will look like. The design is somewhat similar to the HTC Nexus 9, with the speakers at the top and bottom of the tablet. There’s no image showing the back or side of the screen.

Asus launched the Zenpad S 8.0 last year

Last year, Asus launched the Zenpad S 8.0 tablet which was sold by Best Buy for just $200. It seems that the Zenpad S 8.0 had similar specs to the upcoming Zenpad Z8, namely an 8-inch QXGA display and a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3530 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. It came with a PowerVR G6430 graphics processing unit, as well as 2GB of RAM.

The tablet came with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating, as well as a 5MP camera on the back, with autofocus and video recording.

It had a 2MP selfie snapper in the front. According to the leak, the Zenpad Z8 has more a powerful camera in the back but less RAM. The Zenpad Z8 should come with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box.
