Photo claims to show panels of new iPhones

Apple plans to unveil three different iPhone models in September, and all of them would use the edge-to-edge design approach pioneered by the iPhone X, with a notch at the top for Face ID.

This means no iPhone launching this year would come with a home button and a fingerprint sensor, which in turn is an indication that the three devices would share a similar look, but instead boast different dimensions.

A photo that got leaked today via Benjamin Geskin claims to show the front panels of the three new iPhones launching this year, and by the looks of things, there’ll be small differences between the OLED models and the LCD sibling.

First and foremost, the 5.8-inch iPhone will be nearly identical with the current iPhone X, with similar bezels and notch. The iPhone X Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED screen appears to be a super-sized iPhone X, again with bezels and notch sporting the same sizes.

Small design changes

The more affordable iPhone expected to use a 6.1-inch LCD panel would, however, come with a bigger notch and thicker bezels all around the screen. The differences, however, aren’t easily noticeable, so there’s a chance that when held in hand, the cheaper iPhone would be very similar to its more premium brothers.

Today’s leak also reiterates previous rumors that all iPhones launching this year would come with Face ID and an edge-to-edge design approach like the iPhone X. As it turns out, the 2018 iPhone generation marks the end of fingerprint sensors in Apple’s smartphone ecosystem, with the company to bet big on facial recognition from this point onwards.

As usual, there’s a small chance that these details aren’t entirely accurate, in which case you should take all reports with a pinch of salt until Apple introduces its new iPhones in September. More leaks, however, are likely to surface in the meantime ahead of the public launch.
