Apple expected to unveil new iPhones next month

We’ve known for a while that Apple would unveil the new-generation iPhones sometime in September as per the company’s typical release schedule, and now according to an alleged leak, we also know the date when the whole thing is supposed to happen.

French radio station Europe 1 claims that people with knowledge of the matter pointed to September 12 as the day when Apple would hold the press conference where the three new iPhones would see daylight for the first time, most likely at 10 AM. The cited source indicates that the event would take place at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park.

While this is nothing more than just an unconfirmed report, the September 12 unveiling date does make sense and aligns with the previous iPhone launches.

Apple uses to introduce new iPhone models in the first two weeks of September in order to begin sales later the same month.

The press conference always takes place on Tuesday or Wednesday to kick off the pre-order program on the very next Friday. Considering all of these, the September 12 date makes a lot of sense, so even if it’s not a legit leak, it’s still a guess that aligns with Apple’s typical approach regarding new iPhone launches.

2018 iPhone lineup

Apple will take the wraps off three different iPhone models this year, namely a direct successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED screen, a more affordable 6.1-inch LCD version, and an iPhone X Plus with 6.5-inch OLED.

All three would feature Face ID and a design similar to the iPhone X, technically making the full switch to an edge-to-edge approach that relies on the notch for front-facing elements.

If the September 12 date is indeed accurate, expect Apple to begin sending out invites to the press conference in the coming days, probably by the end of the week or in early September.
