And this information makes perfect sense, even if fake

Apple’s new iPhone generation is just around the corner, with the company projected to announce the 2022 lineup on September 7.

Just like in 2021, the new iPhone family will include four different models, though the big news this year is the iPhone mini is being killed off to make room for another large iPhone.

The sales of the 5.4-inch iPhone mini have so far been well below expectations, so the Cupertino-based tech giant has decided to ditch this model entirely. The new iPhone 14 lineup will therefore introduce an all-new iPhone version, this time with a 6.7-inch screen.

Despite coming with the same screen size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the new model would essentially be a larger version of the standard iPhone 14. Referred to as the iPhone 14 Max until now, it now looks like the device could have another name when it hits the shelves.

A new leak on Twitter by Tommy Boi indicates the iPhone 14 Max could actually be called iPhone 14 Plus. While for many people this could seem impossible, going for the Plus moniker makes perfect sense because Apple would be able to avoid the confusion with the Pro Max model.

The last time Apple used the Plus naming on an iPhone was in 2017 when the company launched the iPhone 8 Plus, with the bigger models released since then using the Max moniker. Going for Plus and Max in the same lineup would help Apple make a bigger difference between the standard and the Pro large iPhones, especially as the same screen size would be used.

Of course, this is still unconfirmed information, so we’ll have to wait until September 7 to find out from Apple itself if the new model indeed launches as Plus or lands as another Max version.
