Lava Mobiles is expected to unveil the next Android One smartphone in India later today, but few details on the handset's specs have been available until now.

It appears that the Indian company managed to keep the secret on the Android One smartphone until the day the device is meant to go official, which is quite an achievement.

The only info we knew about Lava's Android One smartphone was the fact that it will come with better specs than any other Android One handset available for purchase in India.

However, the device would cost twice as much, so customers should expect the next Android One smartphone coming from Lava Mobiles to go on sale for around Rs 12,000 ($190 / €170).

That's considerable more than what Google predicted since the Android One program was implemented in India, but at least the smartphones coming with Android stock onboard will also feature better specs.

Ultimately, the decision to get the smartphone belongs to each and everyone. So, let's see what the next Android One smartphone made by Lava has to offer since the device has recently been spotted at GFXBench.

The rather small display seems to be the only downside

First of all, the device is called Lava Iris X5 4G. This might be a codename for the device, so expect it to be released under a different name later today.

Anyway, the Iris X5 4G is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop right out of the box and sports a 4.6-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core (octa-core?) MediaTek MT6753 processor, which is complemented by a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Lava Iris X5 4G comes with 16GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage update to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Last but not least, the smartphone seems to pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front.
