Microsoft has released a new preview build for Microsoft users to the Windows beta channel, and this time, there are several notable changes.

The most important is the addition of a new dictation toolbar design, which Microsoft says should help provide a more efficient and cleaner look.

The new version is 2206 build 15321.20000, and it includes changes for Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.

“The Office dictation toolbar has been redesigned, featuring new visuals, a more responsive user interface, and a smaller size to stay out of the way of what matters—your content! To activate the new dictation toolbar, simply click the Dictate button on the Home tab,” Microsoft explains.

Important fixes for Microsoft Word

When it comes to fixes, there are six big changes for Microsoft Word, including for a glitch that was causing the Word styles to appear blank in the dedicated pane.

“We fixed an issue with SVG objects so they can handle text-anchor end attributes and correctly maintain the current text position. We fixed an issue when using Change Picture From Clipboard so that SVG content shows up properly. We fixed a document protection issue where, when the exception list contained only emails, the “Find Next Region…” and “Show All Regions…” commands may stop working correctly,” Microsoft says.

“We fixed an issue where a red-line strikethrough on a deleted image did not show up when the file was saved as a PDF with Track Changes turned on. We fixed an issue where an alternative font is displayed for certain special characters when exporting to PDF with the Chinese (Taiwan) Windows display language.”

Keep in mind this is a preview build of the next major update, so if no big bug is found in the meantime, the rollout to production devices should go live next month for all Office users.
