14 DAY TRIAL // Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian’s estranged husband, is now in hospital in Las Vegas in a coma, after what doctors consider an accidental drug overdose. He is believed to have suffered multiple-organ failure and several strokes that might have left him with brain damage, and is listed as in critical condition.
He was found yesterday unresponsive in a Nevada brothel, with TMZ now reporting that it was the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians that sent him off the rails.
Lamar hated being made into a storyline
Khloe and Lamar met in 2009 and were married after a whirlwind courtship of just 30 days. Their marriage, though happy at first, started showing the first cracks as the pressure of fame increased and it became clear that he wasn’t cut from the same cloth as Khloe to take it.
As his career took a nosedive because of said pressure, he began using drugs, and his raging addiction (which he refused to acknowledge) eventually ended his marriage: Khloe filed for divorce in December 2013.
He never made a secret of how much he hated the way the Kardashians were using their reality show, on which he too had been featured heavily even after he and Khloe got their own spinoff, to exploit his story for ratings.
He blamed them for ruining his career and making him into the bad guy, basically by dropping hints about him that weren’t even true. It seems that his fury over KUWTK might have pushed him into doing something terrible.
Though he had been partying since Friday night, it wasn’t until he got a call about KUWTK on Tuesday that he really seemed to lose all control, TMZ reports.
Lamar’s overdose might not have been accidental
Hospital sources tell the media that “virtually all drugs imaginable” were found in Lamar’s system and that doctors were treating his case as an accidental overdose.
It might not have been accidental, TMZ says, “Lamar seemed normal during his stay until he got a call from someone about the show. Some of the women who were around Lamar say he became irate, complaining about the way he had just been portrayed on the show. Up until getting the call, people at the Ranch say Lamar was ‘chill’.”
He wasn’t showing signs of being on drugs or drunk. Even the bottle of cognac he had ordered upon arrival was still unopened, so he didn’t seem determined to go on a binge.
