14 DAY TRIAL // Former NBA player and occasional reality TV star Lamar Odom is living in complete denial about the state of his marriage to Khloe Kardashian, who filed the divorce papers in December 2013. In a new, rambling interview, Lamar insists on calling her his “wife” and saying that they would “never part.”
Last week, he reportedly “ambushed” her outside her gym and got physically violent towards her when he tried to talk to her but she walked away. Khloe hasn’t said anything about the incident yet, but Lamar seems hell-bent on compensating for her silence.
“We’ll never part, she’s my wife”
A reporter for InTouch got in contact with Lamar the day after the alleged incident with Khloe and, just like he told TMZ, he claimed there was no ambushing on his part. Khloe had called him there to talk, so he got on a plane from Las Vegas and flew to LA to meet her.
The story about how he put his hands on her is also false, Lamar claims.
However, perhaps the biggest lie being circulated in the media is that he and Khloe are done. They’re not, Lamar says with conviction: she might not be wearing her wedding band on her finger, but she is still his wife.
“A misunderstanding between me and my wife became public. It’s hurtful. That woman is my wife. Without the ring on my finger. [Even] with her picture being taken with another man, that woman is my wife,” he says. “She’s [my] soul mate. I can’t control it. We’ll never part. I would never consider myself serious with another woman.”
He also includes a warning to men interested in dating Khloe: pursuing her would prove a waste of time because she’s taken. Lamar is probably referring to James Harden, whom Khloe started dating a short while ago.
The reality isn’t what Lamar thinks it is
It might sound terribly romantic for Lamar to hold on to hope of reconciling with Khloe this way, but the reality is that they probably don’t stand another chance as a couple.
As noted above, Khloe filed the divorce papers in December 2013, after months of speculation about his infidelity and alleged raging drug addiction.
It took Lamar almost 2 years to file his response, during which time the Kardashians got to tell the story of the divorce the best way they know how: through their reality show. Lamar eventually did file his response, just as the divorce petition was about to be thrown out because Khloe had not taken the necessary steps to see it go through.
Eventually, it did.
In reality, Khloe and Lamar haven’t been together for almost 3 years. During this time, she’s dated plenty of men, most famously Harden and rapper French Montana.
After last week’s incident, a report claimed that Khloe was afraid of what Lamar might do next to her, so she was thinking of hiring a bodyguard to be around her 24 / 7. From this new interview, it definitely sounds like she has plenty of reasons to worry.
