The other day, Lamar Odom was moved from the Las Vegas hospital he was taken to after his near-fatal drug overdose from last week, to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His condition has improved, but he is still not out of the woods.

More importantly, his kidneys are still flailing, so he is in line for a kidney transplant, TMZ reports.

Lamar’s kidneys “are shot”

Last week, Lamar was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel and was taken to a local hospital, where he slipped into a coma. He had overdosed on a combination of “every drug imaginable” and had suffered several strokes. He also had multiple-organ failure, including his heart, his lungs and his kidneys.

He was in a deep coma for several days, but eventually woke up. The organs that were failing more or less bounced back to full function, except for his kidneys. There is a chance that he was also left with some brain damage from the strokes, but doctors are still to determine that – plus, the priority right now is to get him a kidney transplant.

A source tells TMZ that “his kidneys are shot,” which means he’s on dialysis 6 hours a day. “The end game may well be a transplant,” the celebrity publication adds.

Khloe speaks, is still by his side

Hours after Lamar’s overdose, the entire Kardashian clan (minus Kendall Jenner, who was working, and Caitlyn Jenner, who is believed to be estranged from the family to an extent), was in Las Vegas at the hospital.

Khloe was there too, even though she filed for divorce from Lamar in December 2013, 4 years after they were married. The divorce never went through because of a backlog in the LA family courts, but even if it had, she would have still been there (insiders claim).

As proof of that, she was with him on the medical helicopter that transferred him from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and has vouched to remain by his side for many months to come.

Reports say that Lamar will survive but he’s looking at months of rehab and therapy, and even so, might still be left with some kind of permanent damage to his body. He won’t be alone through it all, because Khloe will be by his side.

Some hours ago, she released the first statement since the near-fatal overdose. You can see it in full below: she doesn’t get into details, but merely takes the time to thank the doctors and those who prayed for Lamar, because a miracle has been performed.
