14 DAY TRIAL // Tiki, a Labrador living with his beloved owner Sara Weiss in Pennsylvania, US, might just be the absolute hungriest pooch in the history of the canine race.
Last week, on Thursday, Tiki was rushed into surgery at the Good Shepherd's Veterinary Hospital in Mars and a total of 8 pairs of his owner's undies, together with 62 hair bands, 4 rubber bands and a bandage, were recovered from inside his stomach.
Sara was alarmed when Tiki began vomiting
Neither the dog's owner nor veterinary surgeon Hisham Ibrahim can say for sure when it was exactly that Tiki ate the underwear and all the other memorabilia found in his stomach. Then again, it's safe to assume it took him a while to collect them all.
Owner Sara Weiss only realized that something was off when the pooch began vomiting and lost his appetite for no apparent reason. Not knowing what was wrong with him, she took him to the Good Shepherd's Veterinary Hospital for an exam.
At first, Tiki was given medication. His condition failed to improve, and with X-rays showing that an odd-looking mass was lodged in its stomach, vet Hisham Ibrahim decided that there was one thing left to do: cut him open and have a look inside.
The hungry pooch spent two hours in surgery
It took the surgical team who saved his life about two hours to remove the undies, the hair bands, the rubber bands and the bandage from Tiki's belly, USA Today reports. The dog's rescuers admit they were quite surprised by what they found when they opened him up.
“I found this hair band attached to another hair band to another one to another one and to other things again. It was just amazing,” surgeon Hisham Ibrahim said in a statement.
Before you ask, Tiki is now feeling much better. He is back at home with his owner and he swears to it he won't ever again eat anything that he isn't supposed to.
