Even though it only lasted about 20 minutes, Sony's State of Play event lined up quite a few surprises along the way. One of these surprises is Rockstar's L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, a game that includes seven self-contained cases from the original title specifically rebuilt for VR (virtual reality).

L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for PlayStation VR is already available for purchase via PlayStation Store, and those who already own the PlayStation 4 version will receive 25% off the purchase of the game. Just make sure to click on the Get VR Case selection in the console game's main menu if you qualify for the discount.

If you already finished the original game, here is what to expect from the VR version. First off, you'll once again step into the shoes of Detective Cole Phelps, as you solve cases from across all five desks of the original L.A Noire, including: Upon Reflection, Armed and Dangerous, Buyer Beware, The Consul's Car, The Silk Stocking Murder, Reefer Madness, and A Different Kind of War.

In case you're wondering why Rockstar chose exactly these cases, the answer is quite simple: it's their suitability to the virtual reality experience that you should blame.

Besides solving cases, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for PlayStation VR includes some minigames that let players chill in between important cases. Three minigames are taking advantage of the unique VR mechanics: boxing, speedcar racing, and shooting galleries.

The PlayStation VR game promises to deliver an enhanced technical experience specifically built for the platform, including greater draw distance and upgraded visual fidelity. Also, new sitting and standing modes (including a new “Crouch” button for easier object inspection) have been added, along with other gameplay improvements like enhanced navigation, locomotion and weapon tuning.

In the same piece of news, Rockstar announced that the latest enhanced version of L.A. Noire is also available for PlayStation 4, featuring the complete original game and all downloadable content.
