The Vanity Fair cover was just “beautiful”

Kris Jenner runs the Kardashian-Jenner empire with an iron fist, but she would have the world believe that she didn’t even read the interview her ex-husband gave to Vanity Fair on the occasion of introducing his female persona, Caitlyn Jenner.

Bruce came out as a transgender woman in April in a Diane Sawyer interview, and then revealed Caitlyn in VF in this month’s issue. Caitlyn had very little nice things to say about her relationship with Kris in the years leading up to the divorce, even saying that they might still be married if she had been a bit more understanding.

Kris breaks her silence

Aside from a couple of tweets about how much she loved Bruce and how proud she was of him coming out as a trans-woman, Kris has been keeping mum on the Caitlyn topic. Since the VF issue, as per Caitlyn’s request, only female pronouns have been used in reference to her in the media, so Bruce is gone.

Since the VF issue, Kris hasn’t said a peep on the topic, not even to respond to Caitlyn’s claims of having been treated “horribly” during the marriage because of her gender identity crisis. She was referring to a time when she was still struggling to accept that she was trans-woman and was making efforts to live as a man.

Kris never wanted to accept that, she said. Even after Caitlyn came out, long after the divorce, she would still not accept it.

According to Kris, speaking to Extra in Cannes at a Daily Mail yacht party (longer video is available at the link, and a shorter version is embedded below), she didn’t even read the VF interview.

Again, this is a woman who admitted keeping Google alerts on her kids and who handles every aspect of their career, and who takes time to read up about herself and issue denials to the dumbest rumor that makes it in the tabloids. It seems unlikely that she wouldn’t read the interview that painted such a nasty picture of her.

Caitlyn’s cover was “beautiful”

Kris did admit to that: she saw Caitlyn’s VF cover and she thought it was just “beautiful.” She also offers a backhanded compliment to her ex by saying her transition is “inspirational” because it offers an example to other transgender people.

“I think that someone following their dream is truly inspirational to a lot of people…. you have to do what makes you happy,” she said.

Maybe Kris is saving her reaction to the Caitlyn cover for the family’s reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, hence her refusal to offer an actual answer instead of beating around the bush and tossing fancy-sounding words she doesn’t really mean. After all, it’s not like she hasn’t done something like this before.
