14 DAY TRIAL // The other day, reports emerged that reality star Kourtney Kardashian was lawyering up in the custody battle with ex Scott Disick, having decided that she would seek sole custody of their 3 children, with limited or no visitation for Scott.
Scott has been plagued by reports of a raging drug and alcohol addiction, made worse by his constant partying and repeated refusals to go to rehab. High-powered Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser would have helped Kourtney make the judge understand that he would not be a good influence on the kids for the time being.
Scott will get time with the kids and a share of Kourtney’s money
As it turns out, Kourtney won’t be able to block him from seeing his kids, despite his colorful history, a family law attorney explains for Page Six. Moreover, she will likely have to pay Scott child support because she’s the highest earner in the couple.
Kourtney and Scott were together for 9 years but didn’t marry; the same rules still apply, though, the attorney stresses.
“Children have the right to live in the lifestyle of both parents regardless of where they are. While Scott may only have the kids 10 percent of the time, because [Kourtney] is such a high-income earner it’s very likely she would pay him child support. If Scott wants it and pushes it he will likely get child support from her,” the attorney says.
No matter how hard she tries, Kourtney won’t be able to block Scott from seeing the children because “California likes to make sure children know both of their parents.” He might get limited and supervised visitation because of his well-publicized issues, but he will get it nonetheless.
Kourtney could still take Scott back
Despite the many reports saying that Kourtney is so “over” Scott and his immaturity, a new theory is slowly gaining traction online: because she’s yet to make a statement on the breakup, which would make it legit, fans are hoping that she might reconsider.
There is some bad blood between Kourtney and Scott because they haven’t been seen together in public in months, but maybe they’re having another one of their fights, from which they will bounce back stronger than ever.
Said fight started when he left the family at home and went to party in Monaco, where he was photographed in rather compromising positions with an ex-girlfriend.
Later reports claimed that he was so intoxicated and drugged out of his mind for the duration of the vacation that, at one party, thieves took his loaded wallet from his pocket, as he passed out on a sofa. He didn’t realize it until a couple of days later.
Apparently, Kourtney might be tempted to reconsider the breakup if he promises to be good again, and to spend more time with the family.
