Konami signed an exclusive and long-term partnership with Juventus FC, which means the famous team will now be available only in upcoming eFootball PES series, and not in FIFA.

For the longest time, Konami and Electronic Arts were on opposing sides, dividing the players between PES and FIFA fans. EA always had more resources at its disposal and managed to grab exclusivities for most teams, stadiums, and pretty much everything else.

On the other hand, Konami had to invent players, teams, and stadium that were very similar to the originals, but not quite. That also meant that they had to compensate with top-notch gameplay that could always rival FIFA, as it was the only way to remain in the race.

Stealing Juventus is a big step

Juventus FC is now one of the best teams in the world, and a player-favorite in FIFA. The reason is pretty obvious, as this is the team where superstar Cristiano Ronaldo plays. It’s easy to see why you're always playing against Juventus FC in multiplayer.

With an announcement that surprised everyone, Konami revealed that it had entered an exclusive agreement with Juventus FC that provides them with the team name, crest and official kits and much more.

“The partnership between KONAMI and Juventus FC provides the eFootball PES series creators with exclusive use of Juventus FC within console football video games, including the team name, crest and official kits. In addition, the development team has been granted in-depth access to the players themselves to recreate their likenesses in the new game as accurately as possible,” reads the announcement from Konami.

The developers will recreate the stadium to the smallest details, and the first-team players have all been full-body 3D scanned to provide the most accurate recreation of their movements. Miralem Pjanić, Juventus’ midfielder has been chosen as the official eFootball PES Ambassador and will be the one present on the cover.

eFootball PES 2020 is expected to arrive on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on September 10th.
