The development team at BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing, in what's a great example of world salad creep in the video game industry, that they are planning to launch the new Anarchy in Paradise episode for the Knights of the Fallen Empire storyline in Star Wars: The Old Republic on February 11 of this year.

The coming content is designed to introduce players to a new ally, an infamous mercenary know as Firebrand, who is seeking to take out the Eternal Empire by destroying the Eternal Throne located on Zakuul.

The official announcement states, "It will be up to the Outlander to decide just how far he or she is willing to go to beat the Eternal Emperor. Players will experience the grim consequences of their past decisions and feel the grip of the hand of fate on their dangerous journey."

Gamers started playing the Knights of the Fallen Empire storyline for Star Wars: The Old Republic late in 2015 and more episodes will be offered all through the coming 12-month period, each of them with specific story elements.

BioWare has said that it wants to introduce more narrative to the MMO, basically offering gamers a new chapter in the Knights of the Old Republic series, although using a very different set of mechanics.

The studio is also introducing a new loyalty program and offering an HK-55 droid as a permanent personal companion to all those who subscribe to The Old Republic before January 11.

Players who keep their subscription going until August will get a new piece of gear and weapons linked to the robot as well as two-day early access to all new stories, with the rewards for February being a jetpack mount.

Gamers who stay subscribed from January to August 1 will also play a bonus chapter in which they become HK-55.

More Star Wars titles are in development at Electronic Arts

The Old Republic is in a weird position at the moment, given that the universe in which the MMO takes place was linked to the expanded universe of the series, which is no longer cannon after the launch of the new The Force Awakens.

BioWare and Electronic Arts have said that they are planning to offer more content as long as the player community is interested in exploring it, with the audience for the game stabilizing since it went free-to-play.

Electronic Arts has entered a deal with Disney to create a range of titles linked to Star Wars, including the newly launched Battlefront, which will also get access to more DLC during the coming year.

Another team at BioWare is also said to be working on a single-player-focused video game, although no details about the narrative or the mechanics have been offered so far and an official reveal will probably not take place this year.

Finally, Amy Hennig has left Uncharted to create her take on the Star Wars universe, with rumors saying that some elements from the canceled 1313 might be used in the coming experience.
