New, fresh, Z170-friendly, and that's about it

Since the official launch of Intel's Skylake CPUs yesterday at Gamescom, PC component manufacturers rushed to offer their latest Z170-based devices in order to satisfy a growing request for such products.

Joining this trend, HyperX, a division of Kingston, comes along and brings its first Z170-optimised DDR4 memory kits of two. Coming in sets of 8GB and 16GB dual-channel memory modules, the new kits are available in low-latency speeds, with frequencies ranging between 2133 MHz, 2400 MHz and 2666 MHz at 1.2V and are optimized for the Skylake platform.

Kingston also claims that the HyperX FURY DDR4 family is the first product line that can offer automatic overclocking for the next-gen, high-end desktops utilizing 6th Generation Skylake-S central processing units and the Z170 chipset. The automatic overclocking feature means reaching faster speeds just by installing the memory module straight into the mainboard, with no finicking in BIOS required.

Good for Skylake, and good enough for casual consumers

According to TechPowerUp, the new HyperX FURY DDR4 memory allows reaching higher frequencies without needing to raise the voltage, taking full advantage of the new power efficiency of DDR4. To keep up with heat control, the new HyperX FURY DDR4 kits come with low-profile heat spreaders in the FURY asymmetrical design, with black PCB to both stand out and complement the latest PC hardware designs.

Kingston's new DDR4 additions are nothing special, except for the fact that they are optimized for the Z170 chipset, which slot-wise isn't much different from the previous X99 chipsets, besides the small energy optimizations.

However, the new kits come with very limited overclockability. Previous DDR4 models from Kingston, like the Predator kit of 4, reach up to 32GB memory availability, with a standard 1.2V with an OC possibility of 1.35V and frequencies that go as high as 3000 MHz.

The new offer from HyperX is more than welcomed, as Kingston brings this fresh Z170-dedicated memory kits in order to celebrate the launch of Skylake. Unfortunately, these are neither special nor extremely powerful.
