The latest Dancing With the Stars show, which is now at its 21st season, saw reality star Kim Zolciak get eliminated from the competition for the mirrorball trophy. Even though her performance so far has been one of the weakest of the season, it wasn’t the public vote that did her in, but her own body.

Zolciak suffered a mini-stroke last week, which sent her into surgery. She is now completely out of danger but she is still stuck in Atlanta, as doctors have warned her that she’s not fit to travel to LA yet. Despite that, TMZ says, she and partner Tony Dovolani have been rehearsing for the show she missed on Monday.

Kim is out of the picture

She was there via Skype, but only to be told that she had been eliminated. In case you missed the show, you can see that exact moment in either of the 2 videos embedded below: it’s clear that Kim didn’t expect to hear this kind of news when she agreed to do the Skype chat.

TMZ says that producers didn’t even bother to give her a heads-up about what would happen, so she called in thinking she was only supposed to give an update on her health. Which is exactly what she does, even stressing that she would return to the dancefloor as soon as she gets the doctor’s OK.

“I feel great… I’ve been rehearsing… but my doctor told me it was too soon to fly,” she says. “I have been rehearsing all week.”

That may very well be the case, but the rules are rules - and one of them says that if a contestant is deemed unfit for dancing for whatever reason, he or she will be dismissed from the competition. Producers have determined that Kim fits the bill.

Rules be damned, bring Kim back!

The decision has sparked some controversy with fans of the dancing competition. It’s true that Kim had not displayed much inclination towards dancing so she probably had a very small chance to win the trophy, but she deserves a proper chance, just like everyone else, people are saying.

Twitter is flushed with comments criticizing ABC’s decision to cut her from the show, particularly in such an ungraceful manner. Apparently, people want to see Kim and Tony back on next week and they’re hoping they might talk producers into it if they’re loud enough on social media.
