14 DAY TRIAL // Before the Kardashians became the undisputed queens of reality television, the number 1 couple was Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, aka Speidi, who rose to fame on MTV’s The Hills. Today, they’re broke and struggling to make ends meet, but the thought that they once had Kim Kardashian at their little finger offers some consolation.
Spencer and Heidi have opened the doors of their house to Complex magazine to show off his crystal collection and the wall they decorated with all their magazine covers (including tabloids), and to complain of having fallen on hard times.
They were once so big the Kardashians came begging for help
One tale Spencer takes obvious pleasure in telling is that of Kim Kardashian, then Paris Hilton’s personal assistant and stylist, who also doubled as a closet cleaner and organizer, came begging them for a spot on The Hills.
The implication is that they were such big stars they could give her a small appearance by simply informing the producers it would happen; they didn’t even have to ask.
Kim was dying to become famous and her desperation had reached such quotas that she was willing to clean and organize Heidi’s closet just so she could appear on camera. Spencer says that the scene was shot but never made the cut, as it was left on the floor of the editing room.
Moreover, he adds, Kris Jenner, Kim’s manager since she became famous with the “leak” of her Ray J tape, used to call him to beg him to manage Kim’s career, because she was convinced he could help her break on the scene, either as a reality star or a pop singer.
“Now it’s like, ‘Kim Kardashian breaks the internet with her booty.’ Like, what the [hell]? That’s real life for us,” Spencer muses.

Before Kim shot to fame on her own, she was best known as Paris Hilton’s assistant, promoted then to the status of BFF (Best Friend Forever). And yes, as per Paris and Nicole Richie’s accounts, she did clean Paris’ closet and act as a “maid” for her, so she wasn’t that much of a “stylist.”

Paris and Kim fell out when Kim ripped a page out of Paris’ guidebook to becoming famous with a scandalous “leak,” and the socialite and new BFF Nicole Richie had a blast mocking her on camera, both on their reality show The Simple Life and in their chats with the paparazzi.
Paris always felt as if she had “made” Kim and the entire Kardashian Klan and clearly never got over the fact that she came to surpass her in popularity.
