14 DAY TRIAL // Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom in December 2013, but as of last Friday, they were still not legally over. On the one hand, Lamar had refused to sign the papers, while on the other Khloe didn’t advance the proceedings; both were still hoping things could work out between them.
On Friday, TMZ reports, Lamar signed the papers and Khloe agreed to move forward with the proceedings. The only thing that stands between them and their legally single status is a judge’s signature on the papers.
No more hope
Khloe and Lamar were married after a whirlwind courtship of just 1 month, which was the first argument anyone saying the marriage wouldn’t last used. With all this, for a while, it really did seem like they had found a soul mate in each other, and they made sure to turn their romance into reality television gold with a Keeping Up with the Kardashians spinoff, aptly called Khloe & Lamar.
Trouble probably started around 2011, when Lamar supposedly started taking serious drugs and no longer minding his vow to stay faithful to his wife. By early 2013, there were clear signs that they were on the verge of splitting up, so when Khloe filed the papers right before Christmas, no one was really surprised.
The surprise came after, when all divorce proceedings came to a halt. Lamar wouldn’t sign the papers and Khloe wouldn’t move forward on her own. A few months ago, a judge warned her that if she didn’t continue with the proceedings, the case would be thrown out and she’d remain married to the basketball star.
In a separate post, TMZ says that Khloe agreed to meet with Lamar and get this over with because she had tried anything she could to salvage the marriage, but he kept treating it “like a joke.”
This makes little sense if you consider the high-profile relationships she’s been involved in since the filing, unless she was “working on the marriage” while seeing other men.
Lamar was “humiliated” by Khloe
Us Weekly believes that said romances eventually convinced Lamar there was no point in holding hope for a reconciliation, so he agreed to sign the papers.
“Lamar was really hurt and felt like Khloe had no respect for him after she was out in public with James Harden,” says a spy. “He just kept seeing her with different guys and that was it for him. French was at least a relationship but here she was with another guy.”
So he reached out to her and told her he was “ready” to give her the divorce. They met in Las Vegas, while she was in town on business, and finally put the final nail in the coffin of their marriage. That’s all she wrote for Khloe and Lamar, apparently.
