14 DAY TRIAL // Khloe Kardashian’s divorce from Lamar Odom took a couple of years to become final, but even when it did, it didn’t bring any sense of relief to the reality star. Today, she understands that the relationship had to end, but she still has many days when she wishes it had been different.
Khloe is featured in the latest issue of Complex Magazine, in a lengthy interview that touches on anything from her mother Kris’ new, much younger boyfriend, to her step-dad who has transitioned to female and now identifies as Caitlyn Jenner, her workout routine and her apparently disastrous love life.
The interview comes with a spread described by the editor, who’s paraphrasing sister Kim who came on set during the shoot to see how Khloe was doing, as her hottest yet.
Khloe and Lamar still speak
This is perhaps the biggest revelation from the interview: despite reports in the media that the split was very nasty and that they haven’t been in contact for months before she filed the divorce papers on Christmas 2013, Khloe says that she and Lamar still keep in touch.
In fact, she says, she tries to talk to him “as often” as she can, but she doesn’t dictate when that happens.
“Lamar is genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met, and everyone says that when they meet him. I think Lamar’s gonna always be that person [for me] but that’s what made it so special. Even if I had it for five years or whatever, it was the best ever and I’m grateful I did. Some people don’t get that ever and I had that magic for a long time,” Khloe gushes.
She says she misses him “every day” and she has days when she’s overwhelmed by sadness and regret. Most of the time, though, she understands why the relationship couldn’t work so she chooses to focus on the wonderful memories they built together.
Word has it that Lamar developed a severe drug addiction a couple of years before the divorce filing, which she repeatedly tried to get him to kick. He’d also been unfaithful to her and got caught, and Khloe eventually stopped trying to help him, realizing that he hadn’t gotten yet to that point where he wanted anyone’s help.
Khloe flaunts new figure
Elsewhere in the interview, Khloe talks about how she’s finally gotten to a point in her life where she’s comfortable and confident in her own skin, though she admits she might never feel as confident as she comes across.
You wouldn’t be able to tell that from her spread. The cover of the magazine, not included in the gallery below, has a photo of Khloe in what could be described as the most impractical sports bodysuit ever, looking over the shoulder at the camera, so that all her Kardashian kurves are on full display.
The entire spread is gym-themed, with Khloe working out in full glamazon mode, complete with heavy gold jewelry, sky-high stiletto heels and uncomfortable outfits. As one does.
