Kerbal Space Program's next major update was revealed back in May with the promise to arrive at the beginning of July. Dubbed Shared Horizons, the update is now available for free to anyone who owns the base game. Unfortunately, only PC players can get it right now, but a console release is scheduled for this fall.

Shared Horizon has been developed in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) and includes two historic missions to the game, BepiColombot and Rosetta, as well as a bucketload of new parts and variants to resemble the components of their real-life counterparts.

But wait, there's more! The fine folks at Squad, the studio behind Kerbal Space Program: Shared Horizon, announced that they're adding ESA's spacesuit and the Ariane 5 heavy-lift launch vehicle into the game.

Furthermore, a new planet, part revamps, performance improvements, a bunch of fixes, and a few quality of life features have been included in the update too. Keep in mind that you don't have to own any of the other expansions in order to play Shared Horizons, just the base game.

The juicy part of the update, the Rosetta mission will introduce comets in all game modes. Also, new career mode contracts to detect and visit comets have been added as well. The comets will have a very distinct look from regular asteroids with gorgeous Tails and larger dimensions.

The second mission introduced in Shared Horizons, BepiColombo lets players visit the innermost planet of the solar system to study its magnetosphere and surface characteristics. Players will now have access to the new Magnetometer Boom to carry out scientific experiments on that specific planet.

Of course, both missions come with specific parts that players will be able to use. Last but not least, Fairings have gotten an upgrade, making it easier to set up open-ended fairings, and players can now fine-tune the shape of fairings better as well.
