14 DAY TRIAL // The KDE Project is pleased to announce the general availability of the second point release to the latest KDE Plasma 5.10 desktop environment for select GNU/Linux operating systems.
KDE Plasma 5.10.2 follows the rapid release plan of short-lived KDE Plasma branches and comes only one week after the first point release, bringing small, yet important improvements and fixes to the Breeze and Oxygen themes, Plasma Discover, Plasma Desktop, Plasma Workspace, Plasma Networkmanager (plasma-nm), Plasma Audio Volume Control, and libkscreen components.
"Today KDE releases a Bugfix update to KDE Plasma 5, versioned 5.10.2. Plasma 5.10 was released in May with many feature refinements and new modules to complete the desktop experience," reads the announcement. "This release adds a week's worth of new translations and fixes from KDE's contributors. The bugfixes are typically small but important."
Plasma Discover received the most attention in KDE Plasma 5.10.2
Highlights of the KDE Plasma 5.10.2 bugfix release include better consistency for the Settings page thanks to the implementation of a header, improvements to Plasma Discover's PackageKit backend to no longer crash so often, and a small revamp of the Plasma Networkmanager Openconnect UI to make sure it fits into the password dialog.
While the rest of the components listed above got only minor fixes, it looks like Plasma Discover received the most attention in KDE Plasma 5.10.2, with no less than 27 changes. The KDE Plasma 5.10.2 desktop environment release packs a total of 38 improvements that you can study in the full changelog attached at the end of the article.
The KDE Plasma 5.10.2 packages are now available for download as source tarballs if you're an OS integrator or a power user who wants to compile them on their favorite distro. However, the rest of the world should keep an eye on the stable repositories of the Linux-based operating system they're using for the new KDE Plasma 5.10.2 release and update as soon as they land.
