The KDE Project has finished the release schedule of the last update for its KDE Applications open-source software suite in 2018, version 18.12, which will be available later this year.

Work on the KDE Applications 18.12 software suite is ongoing, and the Dependency Freeze stage is currently set for November 8, a week ahead of the beta release, which is expected to hit the streets on November 15, along with the Final Freeze stage. The Release Candidate (RC) is scheduled for November 29, 2018.

However, the initial release of the KDE Applications 18.12 software suite will be officially unveiled a month later after the beta version, on December 13, 2018. As usual, it will receive a total of three maintenance updates, starting with KDE Applications 18.12.1, due for release on January 7, 2019.

KDE Applications 18.12 will be supported until Spring 2019

According to the release schedule, the second point release, KDE Applications 18.12.2, is scheduled for February 7 launch, and the third and last point release of the upcoming open-source software suite series, KDE Applications 18.12.3, will arrive on March 7, 2019, to also mark the end of life of KDE Applications 18.12.

Developers interested in updating their apps for KDE Applications 18.12 should know that they need to be based on the latest KDE Frameworks 5 software suite. "Please make sure all your dependencies or people that depend on you are aware of your decision to not cause problems," was stated in the release schedule page.

Until then, the current version, KDE Applications 18.08, will receive its third and last point release, version 18.08.3, on November 8, 2018, when it will also reach end of life. We recommend all KDE users to update the KDE Applications software suite to the latest version available as soon as it lands in the software repositories of their favorite GNU/Linux distribution.
