Millionaire Jeff Prescott, whom Kate Gosselin dated since January 2015, didn’t dump her because he found a younger woman to date, but because he finally understood she’d been using him for publicity. Kate has already denied the report that she got dumped by saying that she wasn’t even dating, but TMZ is calling her out on her lie.

Sources close to Prescott say that he ended the relationship only when he figured out what Kate plan had been all along: she only dated him to boost ratings for her reality show and she even managed to talk him into appearing on it.

Prescott got played

Countering reports from last week that he dumped Kate when he fell in love with a 26-year-old model, Prescott has been telling friends that he broke up with her when he understood that she was playing him.

She wasn’t after his money, though: she wanted to use him to make her own, via her reality show on TLC, which she’d asked him to agree to appear on some time before. He bailed on doing the show 2 days before shooting started, which is also when he ended things with Kate.

“Sources close to the millionaire COO tell TMZ Jeff THOUGHT he was in a real relationship with Kate, but quickly learned she only wanted him to appear on Kate Plus 8 this season as her love interest,” TMZ says. “Jeff agreed to do the show a few months back, but when he realized what was up, he bailed because he felt she was just using him.”

Kate didn’t take the breakup very well, or his accusations that she had schemed to monetize on his fame. The two are no longer on speaking terms, the report says.

Single mother image suits Kate Gosselin

Kate Gosselin, who rose to fame on the TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8, which also starred ex-husband Jon Gosselin, hasn’t dated anyone publicly since the divorce.

The image of single mother (of 8 children, no less) suited her just fine, as she played into it to build an entire business empire comprising TV appearances, books, public appearances, and various endorsements.

No wonder that she was quick to deny the rumors that she was dating Prescott when they first started making the rounds earlier this year, even after photographic evidence that they were a couple emerged online.

If the latest report is accurate, the other reason for her denial was to keep the relationship news a secret, one that she would reveal on her new show, also on TLC.

Prescott made the plan backfire, and it seems that he’s ok with his friends talking to the press to expose Kate for who she is.
