14 DAY TRIAL // Kaley Cuoco’s divorce filing from Ryan Sweeting, her husband of only 21 months, came completely out of the blue because she’d been gushing about him on social media and in TV interviews only a couple of weeks earlier. However, it wasn’t that much of a surprise for her friends.
They knew there was trouble and they knew Ryan was responsible for it, a new report in Us Weekly says (quotes via the Daily Mail). He’s an addict and he refuses to get help, sources close to the actress reveal.
“He wasn’t the man she thought he was”
According to the report, when Kaley and Ryan met, he was clean. They moved in together the next day after their first date and were engaged a short while later, convinced that what they had would last until death do them part.
Months into the relationship, Ryan, a tennis pro, suffered an injury that required painkillers to help him cope with the pain. He started overmedicating soon after that, the report claims, and things got even worse when he was injured again and doctors added even more medication.
Kaley stood by him and tried to get him to admit that he had a problem so he could get himself to rehab, but he refused. Eventually, she gave up on him altogether.
“She supported him but she said he couldn’t make the commitment to get sober. He’d tell her he was working on it and instead go get wasted,” says the spy. “She couldn’t fix him. He wasn’t the man she thought he was. She couldn’t take his ups and downs. He’d lash out at her.”
Kaley is devastated, in full damage control mode
The report also argues that the actress is “devastated” that the marriage didn’t work out and has sworn off dating for a while, until she gets back on her feet.
That may very well be the case, but Kaley is working hard to paint a different image of herself to the media: she’s been photographed partying with friends last week, emerging from a restaurant looking tipsy and giggly.
She bought herself a new horse and made sure she cleaned her entire Instagram of every single trace of Ryan. She’s trying to send the message that she’s not really that broken up over the dissolution of her marriage.
At the same time, reports have started popping up in the glossies laying all the blame for the split at Ryan’s door, in what many believe is an attempt by her management to make her come out of this a “winner.” The latest would certainly fit that bill.
