Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux managed to pull a fast one on the media with their backyard wedding in August this year, and they seem determined to keep their relationship out of the spotlight as much as possible.

Even though they had plenty of opportunities to walk the red carpet together since becoming husband and wife, they reserved their first public appearance as such for the season 2 premiere of “The Leftovers” the other night.

Justin and Jennifer color-coordinate on their first outing

Justin and co-star Liv Tyler were on the job at the Austin premiere of their HBO show “The Leftovers,” which is now at its second season. In previous TV interviews, Justin said that the newer episodes would be less dark than those in the first season, but just as dramatic.

While Jennifer hasn’t been by his side on other public appearances related to the show, she couldn’t have missed the big premiere night. One photo from the red carpet is attached to this article.

Both Justin and Jen wore black: they’ve color-coordinated before on the red carpet, but never to this extent. Justin looked dapper in a black suit and white shirt, and a leather skinny tie, while Jennifer opted for more casual glamor, in a black jumpsuit with strappy black heels and a few pieces of gold jewelry.

They didn’t kiss or were overly lovey-dovey on the red carpet, like many other newlywed couples tend to be, but they were clearly still in the honeymoon phase.

“When Jen and Justin got out of the car, Justin’s body was angled toward Jen, almost protectively,” an eyewitness tells Us Weekly.

A surprise wedding after a 3-year-long engagement

As noted above, Justin and Jennifer were married in a surprise ceremony held in the backyard of their LA home in early August. They managed to prevent leaks to the media by telling everyone that she was throwing him a surprise birthday party: apparently, even guests thought they were coming to a birthday party.

The wedding, which was followed by a honeymoon with their closest friends, came after a 3-year engagement. Neither star ever pinpointed a possible wedding date, but that didn’t stop the media from speculating on it, or depending on the case, from saying that it would never happen because the engagement was “too long.”

After the wedding, on his promotional TV appearances for “The Leftovers,” Justin refused to talk about the wedding except in very vague terms. He did say, though, that Jennifer would not be taking his name because she’s too big a brand.

On the other hand, Jennifer told the media that she wouldn’t be discussing the wedding at all because they had strived to keep the occasion from the media and she planned on keeping it that way.
