The gun control debate is still raging in the US, but if Justin Bieber ever ran for President, he’d know how to solve the problem and put an end to all those tragic cases of gun-related violence. The pop star touched on the topic in a new interview with the French show Clique, which is available in full below.

Bieber is preparing to come out with a new album, the first single off which is the chart-topping “What Do You Mean?,” so he’s talking more to the press to promote it.

Justin Bieber and gun control

After talking about rapper Kanye West and how it was to work with him on a song (which may or may not make the cut on the new album), Justin is faced with a very difficult question: what would he do if he decided to run for President of the United States, like Kanye announced he would in 2020?

The question might be difficult, but Bieber doesn’t miss a beat in answering it, which proves that he must have given the issue some serious thought.

“I’d probably just fix some of the gun laws,” he says. “In Canada, we don’t really have any guns and there’s no gun violence, so that really solves it. I mean, they think that it’s for protection and stuff, but it always ends up in some bozo’s hand.”

For those who are against gun control because of the constitutional right to bear arms, Bieber’s answer is not really a solution to the problem. On the bright side, Bieber will never run for President, so whatever he says can easily qualify as idle talk.

Fame, reputation and growing up poor

In the same interview, Bieber talks about his status as a role model and explains that it was part of the reason almost the entire world turned on him a couple of years ago: he had stopped living up to his image and people felt disappointed by him.

He says his image has changed now, and he insists he’s now surrounded by people who look out for him, making sure he doesn’t take another wrong step ever again. He even says that his coming in with his hoodie on is his way of letting the fans and the media know that he’s just a cool, “normal” guy who wants to hang out and have a chat.
