Josh Duggar, ex reality star and family values activist, eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, was one of the millions busted in the Ashley Madison Leak. For almost 2 years, he had 2 different paid accounts on the cheating website, helping him to arrange meetings with randoms so he could cheat on his wife.

After yesterday’s big reveal, which came a couple of months after it was discovered that the same Josh had molested 5 minor girls when he was a teen, the Duggar family went into damage control mode almost immediately.

Proof of that is the fact that they already whitewashed his initial statement on the Ashley Madison scandal.

Josh Duggar claims addiction to adult material, mentions the molestation scandal

As word of his infidelity spread online like wild fire, Josh Duggar issued a statement to admit that he had, indeed, paid to cheat on his wife. At the same time, he asked for forgiveness and tried to blame his infidelity on an addiction to X-rated content he had developed secretly.

The initial statement, as the second photo in the gallery confirms, also included a mention of the molestation scandal he had been involved in earlier this year: Duggar owned up to his “failures” and said he had “re-broken” the trust of his family, friends and supporters.

In typical Duggar fashion, he ended the statement by saying that he was putting his trust in God that he would come out of this a better man, he asked for forgiveness again and then he pled with those who were reading the text to pray for his wife Anna.

Duggars whitewash their son’s statement

The statement from Josh now available on the Duggar website is very different from the one that was initially posted, which seems to hint that Josh might have rushed to apologize without consulting with his parents first.

After all, the Duggars have an image to maintain, as sullied as it might be right now because of Josh’s actions.

“Please see the statement below from our son Josh regarding recent media stories about him,” Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar write. “When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken. As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family.”

Shockingly, all mentions of being addicted to adult material have been removed, as well as the reference to the molestation scandal. The Duggars also erased a sentence about how Josh had let Satan build a “fortress” inside his heart.

The new statement is cleaner and less incriminating, while keeping the appearance of admitting to something bad. It’s basically Josh owning up to what he did and apologizing for it, but without being too specific about it.
