14 DAY TRIAL // Jide Technology announced a new project, Remix OS for Mobile, which would allow users to connect their smartphones to monitors and get full Android PC functionality. The project is still under development, and the company has yet to announce the launch date or key specs.
However, Jide did reveal one highlight feature of the new Remix OS, Remix Singularity, which would allow users to plug in their phones to a display and continue their work in full Remix OS desktop mode, with integrated keyboard and mouse support.
Jide also stated that people would still be able to use their phones as usual, even if they’re connected to the monitor. Remix OS will offer almost stock Android experience, with some changes. Jide says that the experience will be different to Windows Continuum, partly because of Android’s app ecosystem that offers multiple options.

Moreover, Remix OS for Mobile will be initially built for Nexus 5X and 6P smartphones, but support could extend to other devices after launch. The short demo video also shows that users will be able to streamline multiple window multi-tasking and enjoy full keyboard and mouse optimization.
Jide's co-founder David Ko has said that the company is targeting consumers who are looking for a complete computing solution that’s affordable. “In the next five years, roughly five billion people will be coming online. And when they come online, their number one choice will be the smartphone; an affordable smartphone, and that will be an Android. If your phone can replace [your PC], it's a huge saving, and has a big impact to productivity,” David Ko stated.
Jide estimates that it will launch Remix OS for Mobile this summer, but the exact date is unknown at this point as the company needs to make sure that it squashes all bugs and delivers a streamlined experience to Android users.
