The Your Phone app, which allows users to sync Windows 10 and Android devices and benefit from features like screen mirroring, went down earlier today.

Users trying to connect Android phones to their Windows 10 PCs received various errors, with Microsoft acknowledging the problems in a post on the service status page (screenshot included in the article).

“We've identified an issue causing connection problems for the Your Phone app. Users may receive "Can't connect" or other error banners when using the app. We're actively investigating to identify the cause of the problem and develop a remediation plan,” the company said on the linked page at 7:00 AM UTC.

Microsoft later added that the problems were caused by an issue within infrastructure responsible for processing service traffic, explaining that users could get a “Can’t connect” or other error banners when launching the Your Phone app.

Issues fully resolved

The outage was fully addressed at 9:00 PM UTC, according to timing specifics shared by Microsoft.

“We've completed all corrective actions and our monitoring has confirmed that the issue is resolved,” Microsoft said in a recent update.

The Your Phone app, which now comes pre-installed in Windows 10, is Redmond’s own solution for syncing PCs and Android devices. The app offers features like screen mirroring and notifications, basically giving users the option of working on their Android devices right from the desktop without even touching the phone.

Your Phone also comes pre-loaded on the recently released Samsung Galaxy Note10, and given the device hit the shelves a few days ago, the app going down happens exactly at the worst possible time for buyers of the smartphone.

Everything should be working correctly at the time of writing this article, so if you experience similar issues with the Your Phone app, the chances are that the problem might be happening on your side.
