14 DAY TRIAL // The two “SATC” movies are said to have ruined the beauty of the HBO hit series they were based on, but that’s not stopping fans from dreaming a third one would be made, as hinted by the 4 leading ladies in several interviews.
The reality at this point is, as Sarah Jessica Parker tells Matt Lauer in her new appearance on The Today Show, that there’s no development on the project.
There is a story in place, which was probably put together while they were still making the second one, but whether it will ever be told remains a mystery.
“The real truth, and I'm not being cagey, is we've not discussed a when,” the actress reveals.
In January last year, she said she would be interested in making a third movie, which prompted a lot of speculation about an impending announcement in this sense. From what she’s saying now, there will be no such announcement: there is no discussion being had, which means there is no interest from studio bosses in bringing the franchise back.
Considering how poorly the first 2 films were received by the critics, though they performed decently at the box office, I’d say that’s a good idea.
