S Pen support coming to other Samsung phones

It’s not necessarily a secret that Samsung is planning some pretty big changes in the Galaxy lineup next year, and one of them is a potential demise of the Note series.

And a new report coming from Samsung’s home market reiterates the Galaxy Note is set to go dark, so there won’t be any Note21 launching next year.

Instead, what Samsung wants to do is bring the Note signature feature to other smartphones, which theoretically means that users still wanting support for the S Pen will just have to buy another model.

Given the Galaxy S and the Note models already share most of the hardware, this won’t be such a big deal, though it goes without saying the latter still has its very own fans out there.

Galaxy S21 coming in January?

According to this new report, the S Pen support will be added not only to the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but also to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Worth emphasizing, however, is that not all Galaxy S21 models will work with the stylus, so customers interested in this feature would still have to purchase the Ultra model.

As for the Fold, the aforementioned source claims Samsung wants to even include a dedicated slot to carry around the S Pen in the same way you can do right now on the Note. On the other hand, the Galaxy S21 Ultra won’t come with such a feature, though this could change when the next-next generation goes live.

Rumor has it the Galaxy S21 would be launched earlier than usual, with an official unveiling expected to take place in mid-January. If this indeed happens, then the device could go on sale later the same month, so the S21 would thus arrive some one month earlier than all its predecessors.
