We told you about the sci-fi post-apocalyptic RPG Encased less than two weeks ago, but this is a reminder for those who missed our original report or simply forgot the game launches today. Developed by Dark Crystal Games, Encased is the result of a successfully funded Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that ended about a year ago.

Even though the story begins in the 1970s, Encased is set in a sci-fi post-apocalyptic world. Just like in every other RPG, players must create a character and choose from five different classes, which are called divisions in the game.

The plot revolves around the study of the Dome, a giant anomaly of unknown origin, discovered in an uncharted desert. The multinational Cronus Foundation is responsible for everything related to the colonization and study of the anomaly. Once you create your character, you'll be sent to the Dome, as part of an expedition to a scientific complex near the center, just before the disaster triggering the apocalypse.

Encased features a rather simple attributes system, but a very complex skill tree and perks, which should offer some flexibility to the characters. Combat is turn-based, but the game offers a non-linear main quest progression and an open world to explore freely.

There are hundreds of unique characters in the game, some of them more or less important for the main story. Also, a variety of weapons and armor can be equipped throughout your journey, a very important aspect without which it would be impossible to survive in this post-apocalyptic world.

Encased is available on Steam Early Access for $30, but a full release is planned for 2020. If you plan to buy the game at the start of Early Access, you'll be able to complete the prologue and first act of the game, which should provide you with more than 10 hours of gameplay.
